About the KIA Stonic

The Kia Stonic is essentially a hatchback on steroids, as it follows the trend of mass SUV adoption – that's no bad thing, because it’s what the people want.

All model variants come with five doors as standard and are available with either petrol or diesel engines. It will suit busy modern families or motorists who just value a bit of extra space without a boring drive.

There's plenty of great equipment as standard, which is the case with most Kias – meaning you should be happy with all model trims.

Its main rivals are the Nissan Juke which is the car that kicked off this crossover SUV trend, the Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Ford EcoSport, Dacia Duster, and Citroen C3 Aircross.

Don’t forget that the Stonic also benefits from Kia’s unrivalled seven-year warranty, which is transferred across to new owners.

What features does the Kia Stonic have?

A used Kia Stonic guarantees you a practical and easy-to-use setup inside the car – staying true to Kia’s reputation.

All models feature an eight-inch infotainment screen as standard, which is very crisp and easy to use. It also comes with smartphone integration so you can simply hook up your phone to the car’s system using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other available features include a DAB radio, sat-nav, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, and a six-speaker sound system.

Rear-seat passengers won’t struggle for room either, because thanks to the Stonic’s taller body shape, there's more headroom than most hatchbacks – and legroom isn’t too much of a concern either.

There is a grand total of 352 litres of bootspace available, which grows to 1,155 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.

You can see the full range of features in each model by taking a look at our current used Kia Stonic listings.

What's the KIA Stonic like to drive?

The Kia Stonic is available with a few different engines, ranging from diesel and petrol engines, and choices for gearboxes.

Kia’s entry-level engine available in the Stonic is a 120hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit, which is the cheapest to run and is actually a tad quicker than the larger (and slightly older) 1.4-litre unit that produces 99hp.

With the smaller engine, you can expect a return of up to 55mpg, which isn’t half bad for a crossover SUV.

The larger 1.6-litre diesel engine is the better option if you’re someone who tends to do longer journeys or who drives on motorways on a regular basis. This returns up to 67mpg, according to Kia – a very impressive stat from an engine of this calibre.

    Used Kia Sonic Review

The Kia Stonic (a mixture of ‘speedy’ and ‘tonic’, apparently) is a small SUV fighting to stand out in a rather crowded market. It manages to do so with cute looks, impressive performance and an agility you mightn’t expect from such a car. It may not wow too many folks inside, or exude much in the way of character, but for the money, this is a decent crossover.
