About the Kia ProCeed

The Kia ProCeed may, at first, seem like a bit of a confusing model, but we promise you it is worth it.

Up until 2018, this model was a three-door hatchback version of the popular five-door Ceed, but in recent years, Kia has made the ProCeed a five-door shooting brake-only version of the hatchback.

Essentially, it was changed to make it a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake, which was stealing all the attention.

The ProCeed, unlike the Mercedes, offers Kia’s unmatched seven-year warranty that can be transferred across owners, and covers almost everything about the vehicle. This is one of the main reasons Kia as a brand is so popular today.

Is the Kia ProCeed reliable?

Being a Kia, you don’t really need to be concerned with the ProCeed’s reliability. All Kias come with a seven-year warranty as standard, which covers the car for up to 100,000 miles and really is the best out there.

In terms of safety, there's nothing to worry about with both the older hatchback variant and newer shooting brake body shape. Onboard safety equipment includes lane keep assist, a driver attention warning system, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and a lane following assist system.

Every used car we sell comes with a free 90-day warranty and the option to purchase cinchCare to maximise the protection of your vehicle. There is really no better combo, if we say so ourselves.

What are the Kia ProCeed features?

Inside, the ProCeed is a very pleasant place to be – like with all Kia models.

There's plenty of space (more in the shooting brake), with lots of standard equipment that would normally cost extra in other cars – this is something Kia has always been good with.

All models come with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which sits on top of the dashboard and is connected to a decent five-speaker sound system with sat-nav capability as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Despite being a shooting brake, the ProCeed has a surprising amount of space at the back, and can comfortably fit two to three adults.

The boot is much larger than the standard five-door Ceed’s because of the longer roofline. This means that the ProCeed offers 594 litres of space, which is plenty.

What's the Kia ProCeed like to drive?

There are three engine options available on the Kia ProCeed, comprising of one diesel and two petrol engines.

Entry-level models come with a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine, which is perfect for most people and is happy both around town and on longer drives. It produces 140hp, so it isn’t the fastest thing in the world but does promote strong efficiency, returning up to 46mpg.

The next petrol engine up in the range is the range-topping 204hp turbocharged 1.6-litre unit that comes with the ProCeed GT, and is the variant to opt for if you fancy a little more poke and fun on UK B-roads.

Sitting slightly below the GT model is the 1.6-litre diesel variant that produces 136hp, which is the one to go for if you fancy something that's very economical and great on longer journeys. Kia claims it will return up to 57mpg, and we don’t doubt that a real-world figure is far off this.

    Used Kia ProCeed Review

The first-generation Kia ProCeed was the Korean manufacturer’s unsuccessful attempt to crack the 3-door hatchback market. Kia kept the name then came back with a refreshed model that was relaunched as a 5-door “shooting brake”. After making its first appearance as a concept car in 2017, the real thing is pretty darn close to that slightly out-there design.
