SOUL

Used KIA Soul cars for sale

A used Kia Soul is a great option for a compact car that bucks the traditional trend of a family hatchback. Its chunky styling and high driving position set it apart from its rivals.

Its size is a real selling point – it'll comfortably seat five and has a roomy boot.

It's available with petrol, diesel, or as a fully-electric car, and you can choose from an automatic or a classic manual.

About the KIA Soul

When the Kia Soul first came out in 2008, it confused quite a few people because it was the size of a crossover but with MPV-like traits. This made it very desirable to the masses, and it's now grown into a household name.

It's available with the choice of petrol or diesel engines, or a fully-electric vehicle. There are also five different trim levels on offer across the used market: Start; Connect; Connect Plus; Mixx; and Maxx.

The Kia Soul’s main rivals are the Skoda Yeti, Citroen C4 Cactus, Nissan Juke, and Renault Captur. As for the EV variant, this goes up against the Hyundai Ioniq, BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf. Sure, there’s loads of competition, but the Soul edges ahead in many respects.

What are the KIA Soul's features?

The Kia Soul offers a clean and fresh interior that's both functional and easy to use. The entire cabin is very well built and many models come with an eight-inch touchscreen with sat-nav and six to eight speakers, depending on the model.

You also get a 4.2-inch digital display between the dials that shows relevant information while driving.

As for overall interior space, thanks to the Soul’s high roofline there's plenty of headroom, and the rear seats offer plenty of space for three adults.

Moving slightly further back, you'll notice a 354-litre boot that grows to 1,367 litres when the rear seats are folded flat. However, you should remember that all-electric variants offer slightly less space at 281 litres because of all the extra battery gubbins onboard.

What's the KIA Soul like to drive?

Like many affordable Japanese cars available in the UK, there's a simple selection of two engines, which is more than enough.

Both the petrol and diesel variants are based on the same 1.6-litre engine, and both offer a smooth introduction of power and great durability.

The petrol engine is faster than the diesel but the diesel is more economical, so choose the one you want depending on your needs and wants.

There are, however, two more variants of the Soul on offer, starting with the Soul Sport, which is powered by a 202hp turbocharged petrol engine that's mated to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox for faster shifts.

Sitting right at the top – as well as being the newest in the range – is the Soul EV, which is powered by a 110hp electric motor that has a promised range of 132 miles and is perfect for those driving around town or commuting.
