YARIS

A red used Toyota Yaris

Used Toyota Yaris cars for sale

The Yaris is an efficient, small and sporty model that you’ll have good fun with on the roads. Available with a fuel-sparing hybrid engine, the Yaris is also kind to your pocket.

In fact, the Yaris is an affordable model that’s still packed with tech and definitely doesn’t scrimp when it comes to style.

It’s also surprisingly spacious, despite its compact body, so it's a good option as a functional family car.

About the Toyota Yaris

The Toyota Yaris first appeared on the market in 1999, originally being offered in three different body styles that included a four-door saloon and a two-door hatchback. Currently, the Yaris can be purchased as a two- or four-door hatchback model that has seen some seriously sporty styling updates since its first form.

The Yaris is a worthy rival to other sporty hatchbacks, like the fan-favourite Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo, but the added option for hybrid power definitely gives it an edge and the interior set-up is functional and easy to use.

Because of the Yaris’s ongoing presence on the supermini market, there are a fair few models and trims to pick between. A Yaris Excell is claimed to be the flashiest of the bunch, getting all the standard features and some added extras that make this car feel ultra-luxurious.

What features does the Toyota Yaris have?

The Yaris gets different features depending on the model you choose, as trim levels vary across the range. A standard Yaris Icon is the entry-level offering, yet still gives enough features to satisfy the modern motorist.

You’ll usually get a seven-inch interior touchscreen set-up with smartphone mirroring, automatic air-con, and Toyota Safety Sense that includes tech like traffic sign recognition and pre-collision assist.

A Yaris Excel is usually the flashiest of the bunch, getting all the standard kit and extras from other trim levels, plus front sports seats, a larger touchscreen, and smart entry with push button engine start.

What is the Toyota Yaris like to drive?

There are a few engines on offer in the Yaris range, notably a hybrid option that will help you move towards more efficient driving.

The 1.5-litre hybrid Yaris will usually see you get around 66-69mph, with around 114hp on offer. This means you’ll make savings in terms of fuel, but you’ll still get a nice pop of power that will usually see you hitting 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds.

There are still some fully-petrol models to pick from, like the 1.5-litre VVT-I Y20 model that has a claimed 43.5-45.6mpg. All newer Yaris models are only available as hybrid offerings.

If you’re someone who likes things a little easier (and who doesn’t?) then the Yaris automatic hybrid would be the one to choose because of how easy it is to live with day-to-day.

    Used Toyota Yaris Review

For many modern drivers in search of their next ride, low running costs are somewhat of a priority. In which case, there are few cars with lower running costs than a Toyota Yaris, no matter whether you’re looking at the previous-shape car or the current model. If you simply want to nip to your local deli or take your significant other on a day out, the Yaris could be the car for you.
